BOSSES at a housebuilding firm said they feel a “real sense of accomplishment” after development has finished at a site in Earls Colne.

The final brick has been laid at the Bellway development of 90 homes.

Harvard Place was named after the Harvard Warbird training aircraft which operated from Earls Colne Airfield nearby during the Second World War.

All the properties at the site have now sold – with just one still to complete.

The scheme, off Station Road, has seen the developer build 54 two, three and four-bedroom houses for private sale as well as 36 new homes to provide people with affordable housing through shared ownership or low-cost rent.

Landscaped public open space, footpaths and wildlife habitats have also been created alongside existing woodland, which has been retained within the site.

Sales director of Bellway Essex Jenny Walker said: “The completion of building work at Harvard Place has brought our construction team here a real sense of accomplishment.

“They have been working hard to deliver these high-quality homes since November 2020, when we launched the development.

“The new homes here been popular among house-hunters as well as those looking to move to the area from other parts of the country, since it is in a picturesque location with lots of greenery to enjoy and village amenities on the doorstep.

“It’s also convenient for Braintree and Colchester.

“With all the properties now complete, we are pleased to be finishing construction work on site, having seen a new community become well established here.”
