CARE home bosses say a new £10million refurbishment coming to the site will help meet the “high demand” in the area.

Colne House, in Earls Colne, is set to undergo an exciting redevelopment project.

The boutique luxury scheme, which garnered unanimous approval from the Braintree Council last month, has been commended by councillors for its “innovative design” and “meticulous planning”.

The surrounding community, including the neighbouring golf club, has also expressed their support.

The redevelopment plans, which will involve an investment of more than £10m, include the renovation of the existing Grade II listed building, thanks to the inclusion of a Listed Building Consent.

Additionally, a new building will be constructed on the adjoining grounds, linked by a semi-submerged connection.

This layout will provide views of the golf course and enhance the overall environment of the care home.

The new building will feature luxury suites equipped with purpose-built wetrooms, offering residents enhanced comfort and convenience.

There will also be “ample” dining and lounge spaces, as well as a welcome cafe and an engaging experience room, will also be included in the facility.

The experience room is designed to stimulate residents' minds with various activities, such as movies, games, and puzzles.

To accommodate an increased number of residents, the redevelopment plans include the construction of a new purpose-built kitchen and laundry facilities, alongside welfare amenities for the staff.

The first floor will boast terraces where residents can bask in the sunshine and enjoy the fresh air.

The care home will also house a new hair salon.

The project aims to foster a “homely environment” which addresses the “physical, emotional, and social needs of the residents”.

Expressing his satisfaction with the planning approval, Muj Malik, Kingsley's Group chief investment officer said: "Colne House is already a beloved home with an excellent reputation.

“We take great pride in delivering the highest quality care facilities for the community."

Home manager Victoria Franklin added: "These outstanding new facilities will enable us to meet the high demand for beds in our area."
