THE thrills and spills of action-packed, medieval jousting are returning to a historic venue.

Hedingham Castle is bringing back the spectacular displays during the upcoming Easter weekend.

A spokesman said: “The castle grounds will be filled with medieval magic as the Knights of Middle England join us for the first joust of the year.

“Watch them battle it out in front of the ancient keep and marvel at their skill and prowess on horseback.”

The jousting returns with other events for all the family to enjoy.

The spokesman said: “With two jousts to enjoy each day, alongside plenty of fun activities and displays, there is something for everyone.

“Guests can enjoy a variety of pursuits including falconry, musicians, archery and much more, as well as food stalls serving a variety of delicious lunches and snacks.

“This really is a fantastic day out for all the family.”

The event was a big success last year, with thousands of people turning out to enjoy the fun over the August bank holiday.

The jousting day is the first of three planned at Hedingham Castle this year, with the following two taking place on the late May and August bank holidays.

The event is on Sunday, April 9, and Monday, April 10.

Gates open at 10am each day, with the first joust starting at about midday and the second at about 3pm.

Dogs are not permitted due to the presence of horses and birds of prey.
