Contrary to some opinion, the Empire Theatre does not just show films.

Chairman Mike George has revealed the plethora of shows and events coming up at the theatre.

He said: “There is a lot of things coming up.

“We have the National Theatre production of Life of Pi on Thursday (March 30), doors opening at 6.30pm for 7pm.

“This is a streamed event that was filmed live from London's West End, it is a stunning performance, with stunning graphics and puppetry, an epic journey told in a different way for cinema audiences, not to be missed.

“Tickets are £15.50 or £12.50 for under 18s. Book online on our website.

“There will also be two new performances from the National Theatre, more from the Royal Opera House Season, including opera and ballet, with Cinderella showing in early April (12)."

After that there are live stage performances and tribute acts.

Mr George added: “We have live stage performances to come from Frederick Douglas Performing Arts, Abigails Performing Arts and DOT Productions to look forward to.

“Plus, tribute acts Gladness, Rabbit Rabbit and A Celebration of George Michael.

“We also have Comedy Nights to come in April and later in the year, with headliner Lost Voice Guy.

“There is lots to look forward to.”
