GUESTS can sleep like royalty in a unique bedroom in a historic castle... for a whopping £495 a night.

Hedingham Castle has unveiled its new Royal Chamber which is now open for bookings.

It is the latest attraction at the castle, giving guests the chance to enjoy a luxury stay fit for a king or queen.

A spokesman said: “We are beyond excited to announce that the Royal Chamber, the only modern bedroom situated in a Norman keep in the country, is now open for booking enquiries.

“The Royal Chamber is an exquisite hideaway with a unique twist - it is situated inside Hedingham Castle, on the very top floor.

The Royal Chamber is an adults-only retreat and children and dogs are not permitted.

The room is situated on the top floor of Hedingham Castle and can only be accessed via stairs, therefore it is not a disability-accessible location.

The bed and breakfast rate is from £495 per night, including a bottle of champagne, chocolates and a continental breakfast for two.

This can be upgraded to a dinner, bed and breakfast, which is priced from £1,150 per night and includes a five-course locally sourced dinner for two served in the Banqueting Hall, a bottle of champagne, chocolates and a continental breakfast for two.

Wine pairing with dinner available on request.
