“Using padded weapons, you will learn how to fight like a medieval knight.

“In each one-hour session, you will be be coached in combat techniques by members of the Historical European Martial Arts team."

The event is suitable for children aged six and over, but adults can join in too and all abilities are welcome.

Hourly sessions are available with times varying on each date.

Monday, February 13, sessions are from 12pm to 3pm, Tuesday, February 14, sessions are from 11am to 3pm and Wednesday, February 15, sessions are from 10am to 1pm.

For those who love puzzles, the castle is running its escape room, the King’s Lost Jewels, on select dates throughout the half term.

This immersive escape experience is set at the very top of Hedingham Castle and is recommended for ages 10 and over, but fun and challenging for adults too.

The room is suitable for two to six players or up to eight if two or more are children.

Also, in February has been the launch of a competition being run by the castle.

A spokesman said: “To celebrate the imminent launch of the Royal Chamber - the first ever modern bedroom in a Norman keep in the country - we will be running a competition on Instagram from February 1 to win a one-night stay in our brand new castle retreat.

“Situated on the very top floor of Hedingham Castle, the Royal Chamber is a romantic hideaway.
