A RESIDENT is hoping to transform their garage into a hair loss studio as they work to set up a new business.

The applicant, of Beridge Road in Halstead, has submitted an application to Braintree Council for a change of use for the single stand-alone garage to become a hair loss studio.

The application reads: “I am in the process of setting up a new company and would like to work from my home address.

“This would be possible by using our existing garage.

“The garage at present is used to store an old car and various household items.

“The proposal would mean emptying the garage of these belongings and setting it up as a hair loss studio.”

The changes would require a new connection to a water supply, with electricity already in place, which would be used for lighting and socket points.

The existing garage’s current wooden window would be replaced with a UPVC one, with the garage door taken out, and the space filled in with a studwork wall and UVPC external door.

The garage will be insulated and boarded then decorated, fitted out with appropriate storage, shelving, a workstation, hand wash basin and hair wash basin.

The application says: “The aim of creating this new business is to assist cancer patients with hair loss, people with alopecia and clients who have general thinning of hair or complete hair loss.

“I am currently re-training in wig making and hair interlace systems.

“I believe this type of business is of importance, as a cancer patient myself and suffering from hair loss, I can definitely relate to others in a similar situation.”
