POLICE are investigating following reports of a lorry failing to stop after causing “significant damage” to an electricity pole.

Officers were called to reports a lorry had been in collision with a telegraph pole in Boley Road, White Colne, shortly before 2.10pm on Monday.

Police say the pole sustained significant damage and the lorry failed to stop at the scene.

Halstead Gazette:

The incident led to severe traffic issues in the area, as the A1124 Colchester Road was shut at White Colne.

The road was closed in both directions at Bures Road following the accident, and there were long delays on approaching roads.

Drivers were advised to avoid the area for the majority of the afternoon, as the road remained closed for several hours while repairs were made.

A subsequent investigation has now been launched, with the police appealing for further information on the incident.

A spokesman said: “If you have any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to this incident, then please get in contact with us.

“Please quote incident 732 of 31 October.”
