A DOUBLE bill of great movies starts this coming week's programme at The Halstead Empire Theatre.

The screening on Friday will be “The Nan Movie”, rated 15.

Catherine Tate’s character Nan hits the big screen as she goes on a wild road trip from London to Ireland with her grandson Jami to make amends with her estranged sister Nell.

Doors are open from 7.15pm for 7.45pm and all seats are £7.50.

On Wednesday the film is “Downton Abbey: A New Era”. Rated PG, this is the follow-up to the 2019 feature film in which the Crawley family and Downton staff received a royal visit from the King and Queen of Great Britain.

Doors open from 2.00pm for 2.30pm and all seats cost £5.

The Empire also says it apologises as it has to move the top film of the year “Top Gun Maverick “ to a November screening.

In its place, we will be screening, as a tribute to Olivia Newton John, of “Grease Singalong”.

Showing on Friday, September 9 from 7.45pm and at the Wednesday matinee September 21 at 2.30 pm.

The Empire's kids ovie on Saturday is “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.

Doors open from 10.30am for 11.00am. All seats are £3.
