CLASSICAL music lovers can get excited as a well-known pianist is set to perform a lunchtime recital for the community.

Jill Crossland is set to perform a piano recital at St Andrew’s Church in Halstead.

Jill is an English pianist born in Yorkshire. She studied with Ryszard Bakst (a Heinrich Neuhaus pupil) at Chetham's School of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester

Jill pursues an active concert and recording career and will give a recital including her trademark Bach and pieces by Schubert and Chopin.

She has played in many venues worldwide including Wigmore Hall, South Bank and Vienna Musikverein.

Her recordings, such as the Bach Goldbers on Warner or Bach 48 Preludes and Fugues are well known.

The 48 Preludes and Fugues was described as a “remarkable achievement, ranking with the finest” by the Penguin Guide to CDs.

An American Record Guide also described it as “magnetic and delightful”.

Now, Jill is set to perform a recital for The Friends of St Andrew's Church Halstead.

The performance is on Saturday, September 10 starting at 1pm.

Entry is free with a retiring collection.
