CAR enthusiasts were out in force as a popular event returned to a historic Essex venue.
Hedingham Castle welcomed back guests to its annual Classic and Vintage Car Show.
The show has been a big event for the castle for a number of years, only returned last year after the 2020 event was cancelled due to the pandemic.
Events manager at Hedingham Castle Sarah Kershaw said: “We have a number of events throughout the year but this is always a really popular one.
“But we felt this year it was even more popular. There were 350 cars in total, which we invite through deals with local car clubs and others.
“Cars came from Sudbury, one came from Sible Hedingham.
“It was a nice, chilled, family event, that everyone really enjoyed on the day.
“I don’t have exact numbers, but it was a constant stream of people, with many coming for a few hours to look round before heading out.”
Visitors flocked to the castle grounds to get up close and personal with a wide range of classic vehicles.
On the day, there was an array of classic cars, as well as other army vehicles on display as well.
The community policing team was also on hand to how attendees in and around their vehicles, inviting guests to try on their uniforms too.
The castle is now continuing to plan for a variety of events they are set to host for the rest of the year.
Sarah said: “We’ve got various events, some are on the smaller scale, some bigger.
“There is the joust where we are expecting about 2,000 each day.
“We have another car event with Porsche Classics at the Castle, which is really popular, we are expecting about 700 odd Porsches to come along.
“We have a murder mystery dinner, experience days, a 1950s night coming up, there is so much on.
“We appreciate anyone who comes along to the events, as we have no funding, it is a privately owned estate.
“Money goes to maintaining this nearly 1,000 year old castle, and it is great to keep inviting people back.”
