POLICE are investigating an assault where two teenagers were assaulted by a large group

It was reported the victims, who are 14 and 17 years-old were walking along the river Blackwater near Convent Lane, Braintree, at about 5pm on Tuesday, July 19.

They were approached by a group of 15 to 20 teenagers and it is reported one of the victims was grabbed from behind and assaulted, including being struck with a glass bottle.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “One suspect has been described as white, slim, around five feet five inches tall, in his early teens, with short dark brown hair shaved at the sides, and wearing only black shorts.

“Another suspect has been described as white, stocky, about five feet eight inches tall, with brown hair shaved at the sides and longer on the top, with a tattoo of a face on the back of his left hand, and wearing a navy Adidas top, shorts and black Adidas sliders with white stripes.”

One of the teens assaulted had his phone, wallet and trainers thrown into the river.
