RESIDENTS will be able to enjoy sun and sand as a new beach opens… in Braintree town centre.
George Yard Shopping Centre is celebrating the summer with a brand-new beach.
Running every day from 10am to 4pm - weather permitting - children are invited to pick up a bucket and spade and have fun in the sun.
Visitors are invited to join the free weekly activities running every Friday throughout the summer.
Youngsters can ‘decorate a crown’ on August 5, plant seeds on August 12, build with Lego on August 19, enjoy Punch and Judy on August 26 and watch the Marvin Monkey and Safari Suzy Show on September 2.
Visitors to George Yard can also win £100 to spend at the centre by taking a selfie in the giant deck chair using #GeorgeYardBeach.
Centre manager Dan Foley said: “We are so excited to announce the opening of the new beach here at George Yard.
“It’s set to be a beautiful summer, so come and make the most of the outdoors by playing in the sand or relaxing in one of our comfortable deck chairs.
“Don’t forget to come along to our free Friday events too - we will see you there.”
