COMMUTERS may experience delays as a branch line runs at a reduced speed.
It will take passengers longer to travel from Marks Tey and Sudbury, or vice versa, according to news from Greater Anglia.
The company has said there will be a speed reduction on the Gainsborough branch line which could see delays of up to 15 minutes.
The disruption is expected to be in place until further notice.
It comes as Network Rail plans on using a purpose-built train to conduct an “ultrasonic rail inspection” of the entire line.
This needs to be conducted before the speed restriction can be removed.
The inspection detects minute flaws in the track and sends them to an expert Network Rail team.
As it stands, there are only four trains of this type in the UK.
Greater Anglia is “awaiting confirmation” for when they will be able to get their hands on the specialist train.
