EMERGENCY services say they transported man to hospital with serious injuries following a motorcyle crash at the weekend.

The A1124 Hedingham Road, which leads out of Halstead, was closed at the weekend in both directions.

The closure came after a motorbike crash happened at about 1.30pm on Sunday between Bradleys Lane and the A131 Market Hill.

Drivers were warned of a potential traffic building up at the time on the road.

Following the crash, a man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 1.32pm on Sunday, July 3, to a road traffic accident involving a motorcycle on Hedingham Road in Halstead.

“An ambulance was sent to the scene and transported the motorcyclist, an adult man, to Colchester General Hospital for treatment.”

Halstead Gazette readers commenting under a social media post said the tight bend on the stretch of road is notoriously dangerous.

Following the crash, Essex Police are appealing for any witnesses to the crash to contact them.

Speaking at the time of the incident, a spokesman for Essex Police said: “We were at the scene of a single-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle in Hedingham Road, Halstead.

“We were called at 1.40pm, Sunday July 3.

“The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and the road is currently closed.

“Our inquiries are ongoing, and we are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to get in touch.
