A DRIVER with ‘flagrant disregard‘ for court orders has been jailed after being caught behind the wheel while disqualified and uninsured.
Anthony Emerson, of Colchester Road, Halstead, admitted driving in King Street, Sudbury, last July while being disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence.
He was charged with both offences, and when appearing at Colchester Magistrates’ Court, the 46-year-old admitted the charges and was sentenced to prison for 18 weeks.
The court heard that was because the defendant has a "flagrant disregard for court orders", and he repeatedly failed to comply with previous driving disqualifications.
The court was told he had previous convictions for similar offences.
Emerson was also banned from obtaining a licence for a further 18 months.
He must also pay a victim surcharge of £128 and prosecution costs of £105.
