SEVERAL road closures are there to be avoided for motorists this week.

Braintree drivers should be aware of nine road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that five closures already in place are expected to carry on this week, with a further four coming.

The five closures that are already in place and continuing are as follows: 

- The A120 northbound, between Galleys Corner roundabout and Marks Farm roundabout. This is for resurfacing work on behalf of Essex County Council. The closure is from 8pm to 6am and will last until April 1. Minor delays of under ten minutes are expected

- The A120 eastbound and westbound, between Galleys Corner roundabout and Marks Farm roundabout. This is for local authority works on behalf of Essex Highways. The closure is from 9pm to 6am and will last until April 23. Minor delays of under ten minutes are expected.

- The A120 westbound, from Galleys Corner Roundabout to Great Dunmow West, due to reconstruction and renewal on behalf of National Highways. The closure is from 9pm to 6am and will last from until April 23. It is causing moderate delays of ten to 30 minutes

- The A12 northbound and southbound, from junction 33 to junction 11, closed for drainage on behalf of Ringway. The closure is from 9pm to 5am and will be ongoing until April 29, causing minor delays of under ten minutes

- The A12 northbound and southbound, from junction 19 at Boreham to junction 25 at Marks Tey, there is a lane closure for construction improvement and upgrade on behalf of Costain. This is again causing minor delays of under ten minutes

There are also four new closures set to begin this week. These are:

- The A12 northbound and southbound, between junction 20b and 21, where there is a diversion route for local authority works on behalf of Centurion. This will be for one night, from 10pm to 6am, from March 31 to April 1, and will cause minor delays of under ten minutes

- The A120 eastbound and westbound, between Marks Farm roundabout and Falstead Slip. This is for works under lane closure for litter picking works on behalf of Capital Traffic and will be from 8pm to 5.30 am, from April 1 to 10. It will only cause minor delays of under ten minutes

- The A120 eastbound and westbound at Bradwell, where drainage works will be undertaken on behalf of Highways England. The closure will be from 8pm to 6am and is from April 4 to May 7. It will again only cause minor delays of under ten minutes

- The A120 at Galleys Corner Roundabout, for local authority works on behalf of Triplex TM. These works will be from 8pm to 6am from April 11 to April 16, causing slight delays of under ten minutes once again

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
