POLICE have named an elderly man who sadly died in a collision just days after Christmas.

Officers with Essex Police had responded to reports of a single vehicle collision involving a Vauxhall Crossland on Monday, December 27 on the B1508 and its junction with Vinesse Road near Wormingford and Bures.

Essex Police say the incident took place at around 7.40am.

However, officers have now said the driver of the car died at the scene of the collision.

He has now been named as 83-year-old man, John Sambrook.

Now Essex Police are appealing for anyone with information or who witnesses to crash to come forward.

A spokesman for Essex Police added: "We are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading up to the collision and ask that anyone who may have witnessed the incident comes forward.

"If you were in the area at the time and may have dash cam footage of the incident, please contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit.
