POLICE say they are taking no further action after two children claimed they were searched by a bogus off-duty police officer in Halstead.
In investigation was launched into the youngsters' claims following an alleged incident at Sainsbury's.
The children said a man had accused them of being shoplifters and tried to search them.
They claimed he had shown them a fake police badge.
Essex Police say they have finished a probe into the allegations.
A police spokesman said: "We have carried out a full and thorough investigation into this incident, including speaking with the victims as well as their parents, and we are now satisfied no crime or inappropriate behaviour has taken place."
