MASTERMINDS behind a new veterinary practice have made their thoughts a reality after opening their new centre.

A new purpose-built veterinary practice has been launched in Halstead.

The Linkswood Veterinary Centre opened its doors to the public on November 1 and is based at Catley Cross near Halstead.

The centre is the brainchild of couple Robert and Avril Lees.

Robert, the owner, has been a vet for more than 40 years with the practice describing him as "the most established and respected vet in the area."

Avril is also experienced in the field having spent more than 30 years managing veterinary practice.

The pair had considered retiring and subsequently sold their last practice to their former partners.

In early 2021 a planning application was made to convert an already existing barn in to the new Linkswood Veterinary Centre.

At the time Robert Lees was already operating a successful stud and RSPCA service which was providing small animal veterinary treatment under the care and supervision of the RSPCA.

On the November 1, Linkswood Veterinary Centre opened and offers three consultation rooms, an x-ray room and an operating theatre.

Robert is joined by George Lightfoot, who has qualified from the University of Cambridge and has since gained two post-grad certificates, one in medicine and one in surgery.

They are assisted by four veterinary nurses.

Having received numerous five star reviews in their first week of opening, the centre says it looks forward to a very successful future.

One review said: "Robert and his team gave my beloved dog the very best end of life care I could ever have hoped for.

"They are such a kind and understanding practice who guided me through an extremely difficult time with the utmost professionalism, care and compassion.

"I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Linkswood to anyone."
