A GENEROUS donation of pet supplies is set to be given to an animal shelter.

Halstead town councillor Linda Smith, 53, is collecting people’s unwanted or unused pet supplies to donate to Danaher Animal Home, in Wethersfield.

After a successful previous attempt in February, Linda has decided to once again sort out a mass collection of pet supplies in and around Halstead.

“It all started with a post on Facebook in February, then before I knew it, I had lots of people willing to donate and help out,” she said.

Earlier in the year she visited around 20 houses in and around Halstead, including areas such as Earls Colne and Great Yeldham.

Supplies collected ranged from pet beds to towels, food, toys and leads.

After her own dog died recently, Linda had lots of supplies left, so she decided to repeat her efforts and do another collection in the area.

There are already 12 houses on the list to collect from and she is hoping for more to help in the next few weeks prior to the event.

“People are so generous and will always help out, it is just about someone getting the ball rolling first,” she said.
