ANOTHER death from coronavirus has been confirmed in the Braintree district.

There have been two Covid fatalities in the district in the past seven days, taking the death toll to 406 since the pandemic started.

The number of coronavirus cases in Braintree increased by 85 in the last 24 hours, official figures show.

A total of 18,062 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 in Braintree when the UK coronavirus daily dashboard was updated on Wednesday (October 20) up from 17,977 on Tuesday.

The rate of infection in the district now stands at 11,798 cases per 100,000 people, lower than the England average of 12,916.

Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 48,545 over the period, to 8,589,737.

Figures also show more than three-quarters of people in Braintree have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine.

Some 106,146 people had received both jabs by October 19 – 78 per cent of those aged 12 and over.

Across England, 79 per cent of people aged 12 and above had received a second dose of the jab.
