THE Jo Cox Foundation has reacted in horror to the news that another MP has been stabbed to death at a constituency surgery.

Sir David Amess, Tory MP for Southend West, was stabbed "several times" in a major incident at his constituency surgery in Leigh.

He was holding the surgery at the Belfairs Methodist Church, in Eastwood Road North when a man reportedly ran into and attacked him.

Before Sir David's death was confirmed this afternoon, The Jo Cox Foundation reacted to the shocking news in a statement published on social media.

It reads: "The Jo Cox Foundation is horrified to hear the news of the attack on Sir David Amess MP.

"We are thinking of him, his family and loved ones at this distressing time."

Jo Cox, a Labour MP for Batley and Spen, was herself attacked back in 2016 in Birstall, where she was due to hold a constituency surgery.

She was shot and stabbed multiple times by Thomas Mair, who held far-right views, and tragically died as a result.
