ARGOS has confirmed the closure of its standalone shop in Braintree next month.

Braintree’s Argos is set to close next month as a brand-new Argos shop inside Sainsbury’s will be opened.

A spokeswoman said: "By bringing together the much-loved brands of Sainsbury’s and Argos under the one roof, Braintree customers will be able to enjoy greater convenience as the new Argos will enable them to purchase thousands of technology, home and toy products whilst picking up their groceries."

The new Argos will feature a Pay@Browse area where customers will be able to use the tablets to get what they want quick and easy.

And Argos colleagues will still be on hand to help.

This comes after the chain shared plans last year to open 350 more Argos shops inside Sainsbury’s and collection points in supermarkets by March 2024.

This means many standalone branches are no longer needed and it confirmed plans to close around 420 at the time.
