COUNCIL bosses are planning a further round of grants to be awarded to local charitable groups.

Halstead Town Council runs a grant awards process each year, which sees worthy groups get a cash boost.

In 2021, councillors discussed applications sent to the council by local groups with a £4,000 sum to be donated.

In total £2,350 was given to five charities, including Halstead Day Centre, the 5th Halstead Trinity Guides, Brownies and Rainbows, Halstead Community Fridge, Halstead Rotary Club and Halstead and District Local History Society.

The council is looking to restart the grant process in 2021 as funds still remain from the original cash pot.

A spokesman said: “Applications for grants are normally submitted by June 30 and awards made in August.

“This process has already taken place in 2021. However, not all the funds set aside have been used, and a further round of grants will be awarded in the autumn.”

The closing date for applications is October 21, and applications will be considered at the meeting on November 15.
