AN acting group is set to perform its latest production next month.

The Sudbury Dramatic Society will be holing their rendition of Joking Apart by Alan Ayckbourn at The Quay Theatre from September 7 to September 11 from 7.45pm.

It comes after the acting group held auditions for the production back in January 2020.

The show was first scheduled for May 2020 but was axed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

But now the production is set to be the society’s first full-length onstage Quay Theatre production for 2021.

Due to the time between audition and the show, some of the original cast were unable to restart working on it.

However, the society says it has been successfully recast and rehearsals for the rescheduled production have started.

A spokesman for the group said: “Ayckbourn’s play is a wry look at how an almost too-perfect couple can have a corrosive effect on their friends.

“Envy, unrequited love, resentment and a vicar losing his faith, surface over a twelve year time frame seen through a series of social gatherings in the garden of ‘golden couple’ Richard and Anthea.”

“There are no longer restrictions on audience numbers and hopefully, we will all be back to relatively ‘normal’ by then, so let nothing stop you from booking your tickets for Joking Apart, a real Sudbury Dramatic Society treat to look forward to.”
