D-DAY is looming for plans to build 80 new homes in a village.

Residents in Earls Colne could be set to see the new homes built on land in the village after council planners recommended the application for approval.

Developer Persimmon Homes Essex was given outline permission to build on a site south of Halstead Road in 2017 by Braintree Council.

Some parts of the application are still do be decided.

They included the development’s scale, appearance, layout and landscaping.

Now Persimmon hopes the 80-home development will get the final green light from the council.

It will be decided at Braintree Council’s planning committee meeting which will be held virtually on July 20.

Despite the recommendation for approval, the plans have seen a backlash from residents.

So far, the application has a total of 29 objection comments.

The primary objections to the bid concern access to the site from Halstead Road, overdevelopment, air pollution and a proposed pathway for residents to Nonancourt Way.

But the council report says: “The principle of the residential development of the site is established under the existing outline consent.

“The applicant seeks permission for the reserved matters pursuant to this outline consent consisting of the appearance, landscaping, layout and scale of the development.

“There are no objections from the relevant statutory technical consultees and officers consider that the proposed appearance, landscaping, layout and scale of the development is acceptable in planning terms.

“Overall it is considered that the detailed proposal constitutes a well-designed proposal and accordingly it is recommended that the reserved matters are approved.”
