DRIVERS in Halstead can expect further delays as roadworks are set to begin in the town centre.

The mini-roundabout junctions at Head Street in the town have been subject to a number of roadworks in recent weeks.

The most recent work got under way on last week as gas works meant temporary lights were in place.

But now Head Street is set for further delays as two sets of works are due to begin.

The street will have more temporary lights from Tuesday.

Anglian Water is conducting work which is expected to last until Thursday.

From Sunday, May 9, the Head Street mini-roundabout junction will be closed by Anglian Water.

A spokesman for Essex Highways said: “The closure is scheduled to commence on May 9 for two days.

“The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while stop-tap replacement works are undertaken by Anglian Water.”

During this time, drivers will be forced to use a different route, which is likely to cause traffic disruption in the town.
