A MUM-OF-THREE is publishing her second book after following her lifelong ambition.

Catherine Emmett, 41, moved to Finchingfield to follow her dream of becoming a children’s author.

She was encouraging a group of young girls to follow their dreams when she realised she needed to take her own advice.

Catherine said: “I got to the stage where I was going to look back on my life and think ‘What were you afraid of?’.

“I spent 14 years in the City before we moved to Finchingfield to focus on writing.”

Catherine and her husband knew they wanted to live in the village the minute they arrived.

“We were driving to look at houses in Colchester and I said ‘Oh, let’s drive through Finchingfield on the way’,” she said.

“We both just drove into the village and thought ‘This is where we want to live’.

“We just really love that it has a heart to it, unlike some other villages.”

Catherine published first book King of the Swamp while she was still working as a trader.

Now she is preparing to publish her second book, My Pet, which was inspired by her childhood when she wanted her own puppy.

Catherine said: “The story is about a boy who wants to a get a better pet than all his friends and it’s about what happens when he doesn’t look after these pets properly.”

My Pet is out on Amazon on May 13.
