A POPULAR pub has unveiled its special outdoor drinking area for punters.

The Government officially stepped down some Covid-19 regulations on Monday, allowing many hospitality businesses across the country to reopen.

Anticipation has been high as residents flock to businesses such pubs and barbers.

The Swan Inn, in Chappel, opened its doors to punters once again.

Drinkers njoying the pub’s tent-covered beer garden which has been covered in fairy lights.

The pub is even using military grade sprays to keep customers safe.

Swan Inn landlady Amanda Casey, 53, said: “It’s been very busy. So many people are pleased to get back to the pub.

“It’s been a shock to the system for our staff. We support the local Colchester Brewery and we emptied the barrel easily in the first hour. ‘A pint of Colchester Number One’ must have been the only thing I heard for hours.

“The demand is definitely there but our job is to ensure they are safe and everything is clean.”
