LEISURE centres are set to reopen on Monday in line with the government roadmap, council bosses have confirmed

Braintree Sport and Health, Braintree Swimming and Fitness, and Halstead and Witham leisure centres are back in action from April 12.

The move means pools and gyms will reopen for fitness fans to get their fix.

Outdoor group exercise classes at Braintree Sport and Health Club and Witham Sports Ground will continue, joined by indoor classes re-starting at all centres from May 17.

The centres are run by Fusion Lifestyle and Braintree Council.

Fusion operations director Anthony Cawley said: “It feels wonderful to finally be able to reopen our centres again.

"We know the communities local to our facilities can’t wait to kick-start their favourite fitness regimes and our teams across the district can’t wait to welcome them back.

"We've worked hard over the past months to ensure our centres continue to offer the very best facilities and that our customers can return with confidence and safety”

Council corporate director Cherie Root said: “April 12 will see a positive step forward for our leisure centres and for the health and fitness for our local communities.

"We have worked closely with Fusion to keep everyone updated as restrictions have lifted, and we are delighted that we can play our part in supporting health and fitness in our district.”

The centres will continue to operate in line with government safety guidelines.

Visitors must book and pay online to reduce contact and for the track and trace process to work.

Gym users should arrive ready to work out, and swimmers should wear their costumes under their clothes.

All centres will be open daily, but people should check opening hours online.

Bookings can be made up to seven days in advance by downloading the Fusion Lifestyle app or visit fusion-lifestyle.com to register and use the online booking facility.
