THE COVID infection rate has quadrupled in central Halstead, the latest figures have shown.
Government figures show that the rate stands at 140.0 per 100,000 people in the seven days to February 25, up from 35.0 the seven days prior.
Figures show a further 12 cases were recorded.
The average infection rate across England is 97.1 cases per 100,000 people.
Across the Braintree district the infection rate has dropped ffrom 80.6 to 69.5.
The highest infection rate is in Marks Tey and Wakes Colne at 161.5 and 14 cases in the last seven days.
In Panfield, Finchingfield and Bardfield the rate is surpressed meaning there were fewer than three cases in the last seven days.
This is also the case in Great Notley and Black Notley.
