TEENAGE match-winner Jack Welsby was lost for words in the hours after scoring the after the hooter try to snatch the Super League Grand Final.

It was even sweeter for the 19-year-old, given that the dream ending came against his hometown team.

It was certainly Roy of the Rovers stuff - particularly for a such a talent so early on in his career, who was in the injured Mark Percival's left centre spot.

Welsby said: "It has still not sunk in – it is incredible.

"I am 19 now and all I have wanted to do all my life is play in a Grand Final – but to do it against Wigan, where I come from, and play for this club is an absolute dream come true.

“My head is all over the place at the minute that I can’t think of anything else – just that winning feeling.

“I backed Tommy (Makinson) to kick the drop goal or at least be close, so when I saw him lining up the strike, I thought I’m putting everything in to these last couple of seconds and if it doesn’t go over we’re going into golden point.

“I just chased has hard it as hard as I could and, well, you couldn’t write it, could you?

“I’m made up, just made up.

“Wigan were outstanding tonight. It took us to the very last touch of the ball to score, so I don’t think I’ll ever top anything like that in my career again – to do it on a night like this…I’m just lost for words.”
