DETECTIVES are appealing for information after a woman was threatened with a knife outside her home.

Officers were called to an address in Holst Avenue in Witham in what police say was a targeted incident.

A man knocked on a front door before he threatened the woman who answered the door while holding a bread knife.

The woman was unharmed and the suspect left soon after.

The incident happened around 11.10am on Thursday, November 19.

A police spokesman said: "We are treating it as a targeted incident and are looking to speak to anyone who saw a man matching the description given to us by the victim.

"He was described as white, about 5ft 10ins tall and of slim build. He had light coloured eyes, blond hair, and was thought to be aged in his 20s.

"He wore black clothing, a black balaclava, black trainers and black gloves.

"We have been speaking to neighbours and reviewing CCTV and would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened, or has any CCTV or doorbell footage."
