There have been 404 new positive coronavirus tests recorded across East Lancashire since Wednesday.

Data from NHS England, released this afternoon shows Blackburn with Darwen once again registered the highest number of new cases, for the fourth day running.

Across the borough 151 more people have tested positive for the virus since Wednesday, bringing the total number of positive cases there since the pandemic began to 4,969.

Pendle saw the second highest number of new positive tests with another 66 affirmative results, meaning a total of 2,679 people have tested positive for the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic.

In Hyndburn another 56 people tested positive taking the total there to 1,952, while in Rossendale, 43 new positive tests were registered since yesterday, with their total now sitting at 1,645.

Burnley's total number of positive infections grew to 2,760 after 42 new cases were recorded, while the Ribble Valley’s 46 new infections since Wednesday brought the borough’s total to 1,050

The total number of positive tests for Covid-19 recorded across East Lancashire since the pandemic started now stands at 15,055.

In the last 24 hours, 12 more people have died with Covid-19 at hospitals in Lancashire.

Four deaths were recorded in East Lancashire meaning since October 14, 14 people have died with the virus and had Covid-19 registered on their death certificate at facilities within the region.

The total number of people who have died with Covid-19 at hospitals within East Lancashire is now 253.

Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals Trust and Blackpool Teaching hospitals also recorded four new coronavirus related deaths each, taking their death tolls to 187 and 269 respectively.

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals (274 deaths) and the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (201 deaths) were the only trusts to record no coronavirus related deaths.

The total number of deaths across the county, in all hospitals, according to figures from NHS England, now stands at 1,184.
