SEVERAL more areas in the Braintree district have been added to a map of the placed worst impacted by Covid cases.

The online map, which is part of the Government’s coronavirus data dashboard, shows where positive cases have been in recent days divided into areas.

It is based on pillar 1 and pillar 2 testing data from Public Health England and covers the period of October 4 to 10.

Bocking, Bocking Churchstreet and Blackwater, Witham South, Hatfield Peverel and White Notley, and Hedingham, Gosfield and Greenstead Green are the latest areas to be highlighted on the hotspots map.

The worst affected area in the district is now Central Braintree where 12 cases were recorded between October 4 to 10.

Here is the full list of areas highlighted on the map and how many cases were reported in that period:

Central Braintree - 12

Kelvedon and Coggeshall - 7

Great Notley and Black Notley - 6

Braintree West and Rayne - 6

Bocking - 5

Steeple Bumpstead and Great Yeldham - 4

Witham Town - 3

Witham South, Hatfield Peverel and White Notley - 3

Hedingham, Gosfield and Greenstead Green - 3

Halstead Central and West - 3

Figures show that there have now been 708 positive tests in the Braintree district since the pandemic began.

Data released by Essex County Council shows there were 40 cases of Covid-19 confirmed in the district between October 7 and 13.

The infection rate in those seven days was 26.2 - the lowest in Essex.
