Farmers in tractors will demonstrate in Swindon on Friday as part of a nationwide campaign against government plans for post-Brexit trade deals with Donald Trump and others.
The group claims this could have devastating consequences for local farmers and people in the region.
The event is being held ahead of an MPs’ debate and vote on the Agriculture Bill amendments when it returns to the House of Commons on Monday.
A convoy of tractors and farm vehicles will follow a route up to the Old Town area demanding safeguards to stop imports of hormone-treated beef and pork, and chlorinated chicken, which is claimed will undercut local farmers.
The protest has been organised by the Save British Farming campaign, which is behind other similar events across the UK. The campaign is planning a similar tractor demonstration on Monday in central London when MPs debate the Bill.
Tractors will muster by The County Ground then set off around 1pm on a circular route around the town.
