Two areas in the Halstead have been added to a map of the areas worst impacted by Covid cases.

The online map, which is part of the Government's coronavirus data dashboard, shows where positive cases have been in recent days divided into areas.

It is based on pillar 1 and pillar 2 testing data from Public Health England and covers the period of September 25 to October 1.

Hedingham, Gosfield and Greenstead Green have seen three positive cases.

Steeple Bumpstead and Great Yeldham have also seen three cases.

Other areas in the area have recorded between none and two cases.

Across north and mid Essex the other areas with more than two cases during this period are:

  • Clacton West, which has six
  • Jaywick and St Osyth, which has three
  • Witham Town, which recorded three new cases
  • North Witham, which also got three
  • Great Notley and Black Notley, which got eight
  • Flitch Green, Felsted & High Easter, 11 cases
  • Maldon South with three new cases
  • Great Totham, Wickham Bishops & Woodham, 3
  • Mayland, Althorne & Cold Norton, 3

The number of new cases of coronavirus in Braintree has risen by 30 in the past week.

Data provided by Essex County Council shows the overall total number of positive tests carried out in the region now stands at 612.

The 30 new cases, which were recorded between September 26 and October 3, come after Public Health England revealed a technical glitch had caused thousands of cases in the UK to be missed off daily totals in the past few weeks.

Health chiefs say this means the number of new cases recorded each day will appear higher than recent weeks.
