An Eastleigh organisation has voiced its support for the runway extension at Southampton Airport.
The airport want to expand the runway by 150 metres to allow for larger aircraft.
The amount of people flying has dropped dramatically since the start of the pandemic and this runway is said to be essential for the airports survival.
Eastleigh BID (Business Improvement District) have now come out in support of the proposed works stating how important the airport is to the local economy.
A statement from BID on the airport website reads: "The loss of Flybe and subsequent impact of Covid 19 has had a devastating effect on the airport.
"We have yet to see just how badly the local economy has been affected.
"The opportunity to develop the airport, attract new companies and passengers to the area is fundamental to the recovery of the local economy."
BID is confident that the extension will bring jobs and money into the local area and benefit local businesses.
