A SPEEDING driver told police: "I wish I had my dog with me as I don't speed when he's in the car."
The driver was travelling at 44mph in a 30 limit when he was stopped by officers from the Dorset Police No Excuse team in Winterbourne Whitehurch. He received a fixed penalty notice.
He was one of a number of drivers stopped yesterday by officers, including a driver of a Nissan Almera on the A350 at Blandford.
The uninsured driver told officers: "It's OK though because when I have been driving it over the last six months without insurance, I've been driving really slowly and carefully so I don't have an accident."
The vehicle was seized.
A Range Rover was seized at Blandford for having no insurance or tax and a Ford Focus in Poole for having a defective tyre and driving otherwise than in accordance with his provisional licence.
