An unexpected storm has brought heavy rain, thunder, lightning and even hailstone whiteout to parts of Bradford this afternoon.

Residents in Baildon, Saltaire and Shipley reported heavy hail storms leaving a blanket of white, while people in Eccleshill and Ilkley witnessed thunder and lightning, and very heavy rain has been reported in Allerton.

A post on the Facebook page for the Old Glen House in Baildon says the pub is shut for the evening due to flooding.

With a forecast of sunny intervals and light rain, the storm has taken Bradford by surprise.

What is your response?Approaching Shipley driving on my way home from the garden centre, I noticed flashes of lightening and black clouds over Baildon. Put new plants down ready to plant tomorrow then the hail storm began. I filmed it as it was so spectacular. I never knew hail stones could shoot holes through leaves. Hoping this young cherry tree recovers. Leaves and flowers were literally being ripped off the shrubs I had just bought. I wonder how Bradford garden centres got on with protecting their outdoor plants. If you let me have a Whatsapp contact or email address I will forward pictures and short films.
