CONCERNS have been raised by some residents regarding the latest plan to bring 130 homes to Halstead.

The application was put forward on September 9 with developers hoping get permission to build on land just off Mount Hill.

The land is just opposite the Mount Hill A131 junction with Oak Road and sits between the Halstead Hall and Blamsters Farm care homes.

Plans for development have sparked fresh fears about overdevelopment and strains on infrastructure in the town with plenty of applications in the past being granted by Braintree Council planners.

Other developments in the town which were granted permission include 218 homes planned for land east of Sudbury Road and 283 homes off Oak Road among others in Halstead and the surrounding villages.

Another granted application includes the land adjacent to the most recent application on Mount Hill.

A development for 71 homes was granted after it went to an appeal when it was first rejected.

However, not work has begun on the site since it was approved.

In certain occasions, some developers will sell the land instead of building on it after getting permission.

A lot of these development applications see plenty of objection from residents with many being rejected in the past as well, such as the 200 home planned for the land west of Sudbury Road.

At The Gazette, we have written our fair share of articles about developments in the area.

In the comments we frequently see opposition so we wanted to give our readers the chance to answer this question.
