A FURTHER 50 coronavirus infections have been reported across East Lancashire.

Sunday’s number of new cases were significantly lower than those announced on Saturday, when 168 infections were recorded across the east of the county.

The highest number of new cases came from Blackburn with Darwen with 25 infections reported on Sunday. The borough has now seen a total of 2,309 cases since the start of the outbreak.

There were ten new cases in Pendle, where 1,116 infections have been reported in total.

In Burnley, nine cases brought the borough’s total to 888.

The Ribble Valley recorded the fourth highest number of cases after seven new infections brought the borough’s total to 272.

The total number of cases reported in Rossendale rose to 553 after six new cases were announced.

Hyndburn reported the fewest new cases, with three infection bringing the borough’s total to 742.
