HEVERSHAM Parish Council has unanimously re-elected Brian Rendell as Chairman and Peter Clarke as Vice-Chairman for 2020/21.

THE Parish Council is delighted to see the substantial use of the refurbished playground after its re-opening on July 4.

HEVERSHAM is to mark VJ Day on Saturday 15 by joining in the national, Ringing and Crying Out for Peace.

At 11.10 on Saturday morning at St Peter’s Church, a “Cry for Peace” will be read from the War Memorial and then one bell will be tolled 75 times, to mark each year since VJ day on August 15, 1945.

The planned “Ringing Out for Peace” with a full peal of bells to mark VE day on 8th May had to be cancelled because of the virus. This simple act on VJ Day is intended to help communities across the country to pay tribute to the remaining VJ Day Veterans and families and to mark the sacrifice of all those who were involved.
