RESIDENTS living in Chirk and the Ceiriog Valley will be able to enjoy meals out for 50 per cent of the price at selected nearby restaurants.

The Government launches its new Eat Out to Help Out scheme on Monday, a new initiative which will halve the price of a customer’s bill for food and non-alcoholic drinks up to a total value of £10 per person if they eat or drink in.

It is being launched to protect the hospitality sector and prevent job losses.

More than 30 restaurants situated within five miles of Chirk have opted in, and will offer 50 per cent off for customers on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday until Monday, August 31.

In Chirk, cheaper meals will be on offer to the public at Caffi Wylfa, The Hand Hotel and The Poachers.

Restaurants taking part in the scheme in the Ceiriog Valley include The Swan Inn Pontfadog, The Hand at Llanarmon and The West Arms in Llanarmon.

Andy Carlill, managing director of Marston’s Pubs and Bars which is responsible for The Poachers, backed the scheme.

He added: “Our pubs are fully Covid-19 assessed, our team have been trained and we have the steps in place for us all to enjoy the pub like we always have.

“Just pop down to your local and enjoy a mealtime free from cooking at half the price.”
