A TOWN library has reopened for the first time in nearly four months.

Halstead library has opened its doors to residents after closing due to the coronavirus lockdown.

The library reopened on Monday 13 July and is one of 44 libraries across the county to open back up.

Readers will now be able to borrow and return books but only have a limited time to browse the shelves so it is recommended residents know what book they want before going inside.

The number of customers allowed in the libraries at any one time has also been reduced to help keep people safe.

The reopening of these Essex County Council run libraries comes following the reopening of an initial 16 on July 6.

Other libraries reopening include Earls Colne, Coggeshall and Sible Hedingham.
