A FIRE on Peace Street last night partially burned out a unit believed to be the home of a limousine company.

The blaze gutted one half of the building on the road off Bowling Black Lane.

The roof has collapsed and firefighters were still on the scene this morning as were fire investigators.

Eight pumps were sent to the site last night along with specialist supporting appliances and officers.

Bowling Back Lane and Planetrees Road were closed for a time because of the fire.

The building is shared by Platinum Limousines and Unijig manufacturers.

It is not know yet how much damage was caused to the businesses.

An eyewitness on the scene this morning said the blaze mainly affected the part of the building who housed the limousine company.

He said: "Fire investigators are there.

"They are securing the building. The roof's come down."

The fire service last night reported that a building 50m x 25m was 100% involved in the fire.

Fire crews used breathing apparatus sets, one ground monitor, four large jets, one aerial ladder platform and positive pressure ventilation.

Appliances from Bradford, Odsal, Leeds, Stanningley, Shipley, Fairweather Green and Cleckheaton along with specialist resources from Featherstone and Skelmanthorpe were in attendance.
