AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after two “disgraceful” fly-tips were found in woodland.

Braintree Council says it is looking to find the culprits who dumped soil and wood just of the A131 Halstead Road near Rayne Hatch Woods in High Garrett.

The first fly-tip, which happened on June 5, consisted of 25 bags of soil and 15 doors and has since been cleared by the landowner.

The second incident saw 14 doors, garden waste, rubble and more soil left in the same area on June 16.

Braintree Council’s environment boss Wendy Schmitt said: “Fly-tipping is simply a disgraceful crime which not only looks unsightly but harms the environment.

“We want to keep our district clean and tidy, so regardless of whether the land is private or public, we will always take a robust and zero tolerance approach to fly-tipping and investigate all cases reported to us, as we want to find those responsible for the crime.

“These particular fly-tips have been cleared by the landowner and we are appealing to anyone who may have any information on these fly tips, to please get in touch with us.”
