WHILST conducting speed checks in Corfe Mullen, police spotted three young children and an adult in the read of a Ford Mondeo travelling 40mph in a 30mph zone.

The children were aged two, four and seven and the seven-year-old was not wearing any safety restraints.

The adult was aged in their 30s

The 7-year-old child was sat on the adults knee, while the two other children were in the correct seats.

A post on the Dorset Police No Excuse Facebook page said: “The driver stated they were only driving from Corfe Mullen to Turlin Moor so it was ok.

“We don't agree.

“There were also two adults in the front so whilst writing the FPN we advised the driver to call someone to collect one adult or a child as we weren't going to allow them to drive any further.

“We had just finished writing the FPN when the disgruntled father of the children turned up in another car.

“We thought he'd be thankful and apologetic for his wife.

“We were then shocked as he proceeded to have ago at the officers for stopping his wife and issuing her with a FPN.”

The officers said it seemed the man was not concerned for the safety of his children and had a “bitter attitude towards Dorset Police in general”.
