Northern Lights fans can catch a new direct flight route to Luleå, in Sweden, from Stansted later this year.
Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is launching the route for passengers wanting to tick the spectacular aurora borealis off their bucket lists.
The new route is expected to emit up to 20 per cent less CO² compared with a connecting flight.
It will also bring additional carbon reduction benefits through the use of a new aircraft, which is believed to be one of the world’s most advanced and fuel-efficient single-aisle aircraft.
Ali McLean, boss of Northern lights holiday company Aurora Zone, said: “With direct flights saving on emissions, we’re absolutely delighted now to be able to offer a greener and easier option to those looking to fly to Luleå with the launch of the new SAS flight.
“The corner of Swedish Lapland provides a slice of untouched wilderness that is truly remarkable.”
The twice-weekly schedule of Monday and Friday flights will start in December.
